Elevator Consultant – Healthcare

St. Onge Company is currently seeking an Elevator Consultant that has experience in solving complex problems related to elevator system design and analysis.  By utilizing a data driven approach to problem solving, we are capable of creating innovative solutions that are on the cutting-edge of hospital design.

 

As a member of the Healthcare team, the Elevator Consultant will have a thorough understanding of vertical transportation design and analysis, preferably in a hospital setting. The work performed requires a high level of attention to detail, skill, and proficiency preparing and completing elevatoring analysis reports, drawings, specifications, and other project deliverables. 

 

Responsibilities:

Ongoing responsibilities to support St. Onge Company healthcare projects include the following:

  • Performing analysis and design services, as well as creating performance-based specifications for elevator equipment in new hospital design/planning projects.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ASME A17.
  • Understanding traffic types and patterns within hospitals and healthcare facilities.
  • Establishing elevator design criteria for projects.
  • Performing elevator equipment analysis.
  • Providing ongoing training, both for new hires as well as existing healthcare staff.
  • Monitoring industry technical design developments applicable to the health care industry and communicating this information to the St. Onge Company healthcare consulting team.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of the firm’s elevator specification templates.
  • Developing the firm’s elevator specifications to ensure technical documents reflect healthcare requirements.

 

Skills Required:

  • Ability to work with both internal project teams and project architects to develop client-specific solutions.
  • Ability to perform modernization studies for elevator equipment within existing facilities.
  • Through self-study, QEI certification training, and on-the-job training, continuously learn and expand one’s knowledge in vertical transportation and manufacturers’ products and design, monitoring the following codes: ASME A17.1, National Electric Code (N.E.C.), International Building Code (I.B.C.), Life Safety Codes, and any other applicable codes or supplements.

  

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in the application and design of elevators/escalators and/or their components.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Computer Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate data in spreadsheets. (A high level of proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, and MS Project). 
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Software for document review and mark-up.
  • Experience with ELEVATE is desirable but not required.

 

Other:

  • This position is based in York, PA.
  • Travel is required (typically 30% but could vary depending on client requirements).
